WHF Profile: Elizabeth Daitz (2019-20)

I began my career as a litigator, and was serving as Executive Director of Civil Litigation for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) when I applied for the White House Fellowship.

I was placed in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President of the United States, working under the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy. There, I drafted and implemented the President’s Executive Order (EO) “Safe Policing for Safe Communities” and lead multiple lines of effort implementing the Executive Order “Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI),” part of a $1 billion federal investment in AI technologies. 

The promise of the White House Fellowship is to provide emerging leaders with the skills and experience to return home, take on greater responsibility, and serve with maximum impact. After the Fellowship, I was appointed Assistant Police Commissioner in the nation’s 11th largest Police Department, serving 1.5 million people across 913 square miles. Every day, I use the skills acquired in the White House to build teams and solve complex problems that directly impact public safety.

My classmates are a family. Our enduring relationships provide me with insight, friendship, and support, every single day.
